UNDERSTAND THE OPTIONS

Medicare Is More Than One Decision

The right path depends on your healthcare needs, prescription drugs, preferred providers, travel, budget, current coverage, and enrollment timing. Our role is to help make the conversation easier to follow and coordinate Medicare decisions with the rest of retirement.

COMMON COVERAGE PATHS

Understanding the Pieces

ORIGINAL MEDICARE

Parts A and B

Original Medicare generally includes Part A hospital coverage and Part B medical coverage. Beneficiaries may consider additional coverage for costs or services not fully covered.

SUPPLEMENTAL COVERAGE

Medicare Supplement

Medicare Supplement insurance, also called Medigap, is designed to help pay certain out-of-pocket costs associated with Original Medicare. Availability and premiums vary.

ALTERNATIVE COVERAGE

Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurers approved by Medicare and combine Part A and Part B coverage, often with additional plan features. Networks, costs, and benefits vary by plan and location.

PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

Part D Coverage

Prescription-drug coverage should be reviewed against the medications you take, the plan formulary, pharmacy network, deductibles, copays, and other plan terms.

INCOME PLANNING

IRMAA Awareness

Higher modified adjusted gross income can increase certain Medicare premiums through income-related monthly adjustment amounts. Medicare generally uses prior tax-return information when determining these adjustments.

ENROLLMENT TIMING

Avoid Unnecessary Surprises

Enrollment periods and coordination with employer or retiree coverage can matter. The appropriate timing depends on your individual coverage situation and eligibility.

Carolina Benefits Group is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. government or the federal Medicare program. Plan availability, benefits, premiums, networks, formularies, and enrollment rules can change. Medicare eligibility and enrollment questions should be confirmed with Medicare or the applicable plan documents.

REVIEW YOUR COVERAGE
